From the infamous Hualluga Canyon hails this big impressive triv with three apple green stripes. The classic three stripe trivitattus. Provided with a spacious terrarium these trivs can be quite bold, and entertaining. Adult males frequently vocalize, especially just after the lights come on in the morning. An excellent communal frog.

Trivitattus is often one of the more common dendrobatids encountered in Peru. Wide spread in not only Peru, the distribution of the trivs stretches across South America and into the Surinam and the Guyannas. As far as we have seen in Peru there tends to be 3 騨ribes of trivs. The 騨hree stripers common through the Hualluga watershed, and generally restricted west of the Ucayali; the 堵reen backs east of the Ucayali and widely distributed through east central Peru, and some really striking 騨wo stripers from the upper Napo. These are just generalizations, and we would be quite surprised if no exceptions exist.

Abundant in a variety of habitats, and from lowlands to elevations nearing 1000 meters, trivitattus seem to be well adapted, and equally well able to adapt, as they are often more abundant, to even being hyper abundant in disturbed areas and chacras. Hoof prints are often teeming with tadpoles of trivitattus.

Provided with a spacious horizontially oriented terrarium the trivs make excellent captives. A little flighty at first, given time, they should adapt well to captivity.
