Ameerega altamazonica
Ameerega altamazonica Information
The sister species to A. hahneli, altamazonica differs in distribution, call and genetics. They are generally from mid elevation transitional zones where they are found in close association with streams and forest pools. Like hahneli they are locally abundant in suitable habitat, and even in disturbed habitat providing sufficient larval rearing sites are provided.
These frogs are easily cared for in captivity and some are truly interestingly coloured. Tadpoles may develop rapidly, sometimes in as little as 45 days.
