Oophaga Pumilio 1“Red Bastimentos”
This specimen pictured is a typical specimen of this morph. Others are beige colored, while still other a bright fire engine red. The rust red/orange colour seen here is the most common produced from our pairs.
Oophaga Pumilio“PCPC-08”
Similar to mancreek, these frogs tend to have deeper red colour, and are slightly larger than our Man Creeks purchased through SNDF. We are working with only one pair of these animals acquired through a large Canadian importer in 2008. We would be interested in obtaining additional pairs of these.

Oophaga Pumilio“Escudo de Veraguas”
The animal pictured shows a high percentage of blue coloration. Most Escudo Pumilio posess a greater percentage or red dorsally.
Oophaga Pumilio Information
This frog is distributed throughout the Atlantic forest of Nicaragua through Panama. It is renowned for the almost unfathomable amount of intra and extra populational phenotypic variation. Pumilio is currently the only obligate egg feeder readily available to hobbyists. Imports from Panama over the last few years have allowed several form to become established in the hobby, and captive bred Pumilio, once a rarity are now fairly common. Captive bred Pumilio are very hardy once they overcome the 2 month mark. A pair kept with several bromeliads, if well fed and cared for will usually reproduce readily. These frogs are generally bold and make fascinating display animals. The sight of a newly metamorphosed Pumilio froglet emerging from a bromeliad is one of the most rewarding sights in frog husbandry.
