Ranitomeya reticulata
Ranitomeya reticulata Information
This tiny gem is distributed primarily in the lowland forests surrounding the city of Iquitos. The forests here are hot and humid, with daytime temperature soaring often above 90F; even under the canopy, the temperatures may be stifling. Reticulata is a terrestrial frog, climbing only to deposit tadpoles in the guzmania and other bromeliads that often grow in abundance in the lower strata of the forests.
Definitely not a beginner frog, its tiny size and relative sensitivity when compared to other Ranitomeya species delegate reticulate as a species best left to more experienced hands. Established animals do best when kept in a warm vivaria with plenty of leaf-litter, and a good arthropod diversity established in the substrate on which the animals will forage.
Excellent animals for those looking for a more challenging species. The reticulate we offer are near full grown animal, and well beyond the most sensitive juvenile stages.
