Hyloxalus azureiventris

Hyloxalus azuriventris
Distributed seemingly sporadically throughout northeastern San Martin and possibly into Loreto, Peru, its exact distribution is difficult to discern due to the elusive nature of the frog. Found in lowland to mid elevation forest, azureiventris spends most of its time hidden amongst tree roots or boulders. Despite its reclusiveness in the wild, the frog is actually quite bold in the vivarium, with a charming call. Easily cared for and bred, an excellent addition to any collection.
