Ranitomeya amazonica "Golden"

A lovely and prolific Ranitomeya native to the Iquitos region of Peru.  This population exists in close proximity to the the more commonly seen orange/red amazonica populations.  At one time these populations would not have been isolated as they are now due to deforestation.  Unsurprisingly, as is the case with most Ranitomeya there is some intrapopulational variation and it is not uncommon for decidely more orange coloured individuals to emerge from time to time.  The predominant colour however is a rich golden yellow.  These are great frogs and an ideal choice for anyone looking to start with Ranitomeya.  These frogs thrive communally in medium to large groups.
